Want to build tenant power in your neighborhood? Join us!

Who can join?

All tenants are welcome to become members. We define “tenant” as anyone who does not have control over their housing and does not have power over any other person’s housing situation. We see no distinction between the housed and the unhoused. Homeowners can join as non-voting members. Landlords and their agents (like law enforcement) are not eligible to join.

How do I join?

We ask that all members read and find general agreement with our collectively determined values. Then, come to one of our public meetings listed on our calendar to get oriented. We also highly encourage all members to pay dues to sustain the tenants union. You can sign up for monthly dues payments below or make one-time payments.

Why do we collect dues?

To build an autonomous tenants-led movement, Valley Tenants Union relies on its own members to fund ongoing expenses. These include meeting supplies, printing costs, educational materials, funds for community events, direct actions, supporting rent strikes and mobilizations. Why? The source of our funding matters. With dues, we can truly sustain ourselves as we distribute resources and decision making throughout our organization.

Pay regular dues so we can keep fighting for tenant power! They're sliding scale, meaning you can pay what you want starting at $1.
